Level 1 students start at age 3 with creative movement.

Virginia Ballet Academy is a primarily classical ballet school with high quality classical training based on the world-renowned Russian Vaganova method, focusing on their special strengths and talents to develop ability and artistry with strong technique and discipline.

The School offers ballet, pointe, partnering, modern and tap classes for students ranging from the age of three through pre-professional.

After proper stretching and warm-up, Level 6-7 students, ages 15+, study advanced ballet, pointe, modern and partnering.

Level 3-5 VBA students, ages 7-14, rehearsing for "Anastasia." All VBA students perform with the UDT company in Spring productions; providing them with invaluable stage experience.

The focus is on artistic form and precise technique in the higher level Vaganova method classes.

Virginia Ballet Academy also provides high-level performance opportunities for all level dancers. By bringing professional quality dance programming to the Roanoke Valley, VBA strives to encourage appreciation and awareness of dance in the community at large.

Although the dance training at Virginia Ballet Academy is world-class, it will always be delivered in a cheerful and friendly atmosphere that welcomes children of all ages—and adults.

Additionally, students are exposed to famous guest dancers and instructors throughout the year.
